Tall buildings: Rising to the Net Zero Challenge

19 October 2023 to 19 Oct 2023
8:00 am to 10:00 am

As global cities race towards net zero, a major challenge for the real estate industry is to ensure its skyline develops sustainably. Tall buildings have a unique role to play in helping the City of London achieve net zero by 2040, while also ensuring it remains a global hub for business by providing the office space needed to help drive the economy. These architecturally fascinating buildings are also iconic and visitor attractions in their own right – making them an asset to the City Corporation’s Destination City vision.

This seminar will explore the very different set of environmental challenges towers face, including a different level of investment in embodied and operational carbon to build and maintain.

The event will be hosted in partnership with EC BID and will explore the findings of its latest report by Arup Tall Buildings: Rising to the Net Zero Challenge. Ann Dalzell, (Director, Arup and report author) will give an overview of the report after a welcome from Charles Begley (Chief Executive, CPA), and a keynote speech from Shravan Joshi MBE (Chairman, Planning & Transportation Committee, City of London Corporation).
