The guest speaker for the event will be renowned journalist, broadcaster and author Will Gompertz. Will is best known for his role as the BBC Arts editor and his previous role as the Director of Tate Media. Gompertz has also written extensively for The Guardian and The Times, and is the author of What Are You Looking At? 150 Years of Modern Art in the Blink of an Eye and Think Like an Artist.
Will is currently the Artistic Director of the Barbican Centre and is soon to become Director of the Sir John Soane Museum. Joining the Barbican at a pivotal point after the pandemic, he led the organisation through a transition as it refocused its artistic vision to adapt to the future. In his keynote speech he will talk about the City of London Corporation’s flagship scheme Destination City and what role arts and culture play in the future of the City.
