A capacity audience joined us on the 14th floor of Deloitte’s award winning 1 New Street Square offices for our London Office Crane Survey seminar this morning to hear about the current state of investment activity and completions in the capital.
New office building in central London is at a three-year high, with 13.2 million square feet of space under construction, up 12% in six months and a post EU referendum high. Whilst the City retains its dominant position with more than triple the construction of nearest competitor the West End, the report shows record growth for King’s Cross and Midtown.
Michael Cracknell (Director at Deloitte) opened the seminar with a presentation highlighting the survey’s key findings before a panel discussion with Michael; CPA Board members Justin Black (Head of UK Development at CC land) and Karen Cook (Founding Partner of PLP Architecture); as well as Mary Finnigan (Head of Transactions [Real Estate] at WeWork). Moderated by David Ainsworth (CPA President and Chief Executive of CO—RE), the panel discussed the City as an investment opportunity, the role of design in attracting occupiers, the rate of development in neighbouring boroughs and the exponential rise of co-working providers.
