The City Property Association (CPA) has responded to the City of London Corporation’s consultation on its draft Planning for Sustainability Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The SPD provides guidance on how applicants should approach sustainability and circularity in their developments throughout the application process.
In the response we welcomed the detailed guidance set out in the draft SPD as a key step in delivering a net zero Square Mile by 2040 and enhancing the quality of the City’s environment for workers, residents and visitors.
We also provided a number of recommendations including:
- Setting out how transport initiatives can support sustainability in the City
- Bringing information on carbon impacts in line with London Plan guidance
- Taking a more flexible approach to whole life-cycle carbon data with regard to carbon emission targets.
