There was standing room only as close to 100 members and stakeholders arrived for our Eastern City Cluster Seminar. Hosted in the Leadenhall Building, at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners’ 14th floor office, this event set out the vision for the future of this newly established partnership.

Opening the seminar, Alastair Moss, Chair of Planning & Transportation at the City of London Corporation, shared the authority’s vision for the future of the area. The primary focus of the Corporation is to ensure the community gets what it needs. The partnership will put people at the heart of its development, prioritising pedestrians and cyclists in line with the Corporation’s ambitious Transport Strategy.

Patrick Wong, Founder & CEO of Tenacity, shared his vision for how the Eastern City Business BID will strengthen the City’s ability to be a leading place for people to live, work and play. The partnership between key landowners and businesses will make the area more diverse and enhance the lived experience of the City.

Following introductory speeches, members heard an expert panel discuss the key challenges and strengths of the partnership. Speakers included:

  • Lorna Edwards – Senior Associate at RSHP
  • Adam Goldin – Head of UK at CC Land
  • Simon McGinn – CPAT Manager at City of London Corporation
  • Andrew Reynolds – Chair of Eastern City Partnership; Tenacity

Attendees appeared both passionate and excited about the prospects the partnership will bring to the important Eastern side of the City. Key audience questions focused on environmental impacts, human wellbeing and the commercial success of the development.

It is clear that strong momentum has been established for the Eastern City Business Partnership. Shortly after the seminar, it was announced that the City of London Corporation will join the newly established Eastern Cluster Business Partnership as a funding partner for at least two years.
