In response to the delay to the City Plan 2040, CPA Chair Nikki Dibley, Senior Development Executive at Helical, said:
“While the delay to formal adoption is frustrating, we are confident it can be resolved quickly, given the strong evidence of the City’s critical shortage of office space. Demand for high-quality offices continues to grow, with the City’s workforce now 25% above pre-pandemic levels and generating £109 billion in annual economic output.
“The draft City Plan 2040 secured broad support following extensive consultation, and we remain supportive of the City Corporation’s balanced approach to enabling growth while protecting the City’s historic environment and iconic skyline.
“A government committed to growth must recognise the importance of allowing the City to evolve, including through well-designed tall buildings that support investment, productivity and jobs, whilst providing the certainty needed to maintain the City’s global competitiveness.”
