London Property Alliance announces its official sponsorship of the Open House Festival 2020

London Property Alliance (CPA + WPA) is proud to announce that it will be an official sponsor of this year’s Open House Festival in London, the world’s largest architecture festival.

Running since 1992, the festival opens up the capital’s built environment through giving free public access to buildings, walks, talks and tours over one weekend in September, and a year-round programme of events. In a typical year, over a quarter of a million people take part in the Open House weekend.

This is the first year that London Property Alliance will be a principal sponsor of this collaborative event that brings professional city-makers and a diverse public together. With lockdown measures preventing many people from accessing central London in the past few months, this year’s Open House Festival will play an important role in bringing people back to the City to experience great design like never before.

Charles Begley, Executive Director of London Property Alliance, which represents more than 400 owners, developers and professional advisors across central London, said: “It has never been more important to celebrate our great city and open up it its architecture and heritage to as many people as possible. If before lockdown we took central London for granted, then recent months have demonstrated the important role of the built environment in uniting people, driving collaboration and innovation.

“Open House is a great opportunity to showcase our members’ contribution to the capital and help make the city more inclusive and accessible. Workers, residents and visitors alike will be able to see and learn about the buildings around them and appreciate like never before all the City and West End have to offer.”

Radical housing, sustainable building and colonial histories will be the core themes of this year’s festival, with a programme encompassing a diverse range of events and activities both on and offline. Experimenting with new formats, the 2020 festival will also include outdoor film screenings, podcast recordings, online lectures and supper clubs.

Open House Director, Phineas Harper, said: “We’re trying to take Coronavirus head-on and to use innovative formats and clever planning to make sure we still put on a really great festival.

“We are delighted to be working with London Property Alliance and its members in opening up central London and help lead the debate about London’s role and future, making the case for a truly equitable,
adventurous and open city.”
